Notes for EPSON Status Monitor ============================== 1. General troubleshooting solutions 1-1. If a Windows shared printer cannot be monitored, check the following: *Make sure that the printer driver is installed on the computer that is hosting the Windows shared printer and that, in the printer driver, the printer is set to be shared. Also make sure that "Allow monitoring of shared printers" is selected in the Monitoring Preferences dialog box. *(Windows Me/98) On the server, double-click the Network icon in Control Panel and make sure that the "File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks" component is installed. Then, on the server AND clients, make sure that the "IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol" or the "TCP/IP Protocol" is installed. 1-2. EPSON Status Monitor 3 cannot monitor the network printer in a Windows 95 environment. 2. Solutions for Windows XP/2000/NT environment 2-1. When uninstalling EPSON Status Monitor 3 from a multi-user Windows XP/2000/NT environment, remove the shortcut icon from all clients before uninstalling. You can remove the icon by clearing the Shortcut Icon check box in the Monitoring Preferences dialog box. 2-2. The EPSON Status Monitor 3 utility is not available when printing from a Remote Desktop connection. 3. Solutions for Windows XP Service Pack 2 environment When connecting to a Windows XP Service Pack 2 shared printer from Windows Me/98, error and warning notifications do not appear during printing. Make sure that EEBAgent.exe has been added to the Windows Firewall Exceptions list. 4. Solutions for network printers 4-1. To monitor a NetWare printer, connect only one print server to each queue. For directions, see the Administrator's Guide for the printer. 4-2. You cannot monitor a NetWare queue printer beyond the IPX router because the setting for IPX hops is 0. 4-3. When monitoring NetWare printers, a Novell Client that corresponds to your operating system must be used. Operation is confirmed for the versions below. *For Windows Me/98 : Novell Client 3.31 for Windows 98 *For Windows 2000/NT 4.0: Novell Client 4.81 for Windows NT/2000 4-4. Limitation when monitoring NetWare printers This product supports NetWare printers configured by a queue-based printing system such as Bindery or NDS. You cannot monitor NDPS (Novell Distributed Print Services) printers. 5. Solutions for using EPSON Status Monitor 3 for impact printers. 5-1. Notes on error and warning notification when printing *If connecting to a NetWare printer and monitoring it while printing, make sure EPSON Status Monitor 3 is running. *If connecting to an LPR printer and monitoring it while printing, make sure EPSON Status Monitor 3 is running. *When connecting to a Windows 2000/NT shared printer from Windows Me/98, error and warning notifications do not appear during printing. Make sure EPSON Status Monitor 3 is running, and use the Printer Status Window to find out about errors. *When connecting to a Windows XP shared printer, error and warning notifications do not appear during printing.
